Who Are We?
The Plainwell Robotics Club has roots back to 2012, beginning at Plainwell Middle School with a single team. The Club participates in the VEX Robotics program. VEX Robotics is designed for elementary through university students. Each year, an engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students use the VEX system to build innovative robots to play the game. The well-known competition experience attracts tens of thousands of students from across the globe, united in their passion for robotics and STEM. The goal is to leverage competitive robotics to see students increase technical abilities while learning workforce skills and having fun with their team.
The Club is run by an eleven-member volunteer Management Team. We rely on over 30 coaches and mentors to guide our teams. Volunteers, in-kind gifts, grants, and sponsors make this all possible.
We Create Opportunities for Students
The primary purpose of the PRC is to provide students with a real-life problem-solving experience which includes skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students work in teams to learn how to design, build, program, test, and operate robots to perform specified functions.
Growth and Expansion
Since inception, we have grown to 20 teams in 2022-23, with more than 70 student participants from Plainwell's High School, Middle School, and Starr, Gilkey, and Cooper Elementary Schools. Student demand for participation is increasing and we would like to expand the number of teams in each school next year. This is where you can help!
Funding and Expenses
Our funding for participation and expansion of teams comes through grants and sponsors. New elementary school teams require a startup investment of $1,000 per team, and the startup cost for each new middle or high school team is nearly $1,500. Plus, the annual costs for each team (primarily for team and tournament registrations, and replacement robot parts) total about $750. We hope you can help!

Team Sponsorship is a great opportunity to support the Plainwell Robotics Club. We wouldn’t be successful without the ongoing community support and sponsorship from enthusiastic businesses like yours! Your company’s tax-deductible sponsorship allows us to continue and expand this amazing program for the students in Plainwell.
We will list your name or business name on our team shirts, our web site, at our tournaments, any press releases, and other promotional opportunities as they present themselves through the season.
